Santiago Lurueña studied at the Superior Conservatory of Music of Badajoz under Professor Alfonso Pineda, Koninklijk Conservatorium Antwerpen, with Annelien van Wauwe, and early music at the Koninklijk Conservatorium Brussels under the guidance of Benjamin Dieltjens and Nicola Boud.

Santiago took part in several chamber music festivals: the X Contemporary Music Festival of Badajoz, International Music and Dance Festival of Granada, Aurora Chamber Music Festival, Festival B-classics, Wonderland Festival in Ghent, Lunalia Festival, Klassiek op het Amstelveld, Mozart Festival in Bratislava, and the Encuentro and academy of Santander, among others.

He regularly performs with orchestras such as Neue Philharmonie München, Opera Ballet Vlaanderen, Antwerp Symphony Orchestra, I Solisti del Vento, Hermes Ensemble, Orquesta Sinfónica de Navarra, Terranova Collective, among others.

Santiago has participated in solo and chamber music masterclasses with Harri Mäki, José Luis Estellés, Vicent Alberola, Arno Piters, David Krakauer, Quiroga Quartet, Polina Leschenko, Diethelm Jonas, among others.

Apart from his main training in classical music, Santiago Lurueña has always had an interest in surpassing the boundaries of classical music conventions, using improvisation and exploring other styles or interdisciplinary performances. He was awarded in the International René Aron Improvisation Competition 2024, as well as the AIE Scholarship during 2021.
